We return with our Hafla! Series

This year we have 16 performances with over 20 dancers gracing our stage. We dance in support of Victim Services of Leeds and Grenville.

We were able to donate $350 to our local domestic abuse shelter from the sale of our 2022 calendars. Thank you to all that supported this cause.

Brockville Freedom Connection will be joining with Capital Rainbow Refuge and its many groups throughout Ottawa and Eastern Ontario for this amazing event!

Representing ShimmyMob Emotional Abuse and Awareness month. Originally from Sri Lanka Shaniya has a background in traditional Sri Lankan Kandyan dance and began to study belly dance here in Canada. Shaniya has been part of the Shimmymob worldwide team for  3 years.

Morgaine
Morgaine comes to us from a Theatre background. Starting with tap, jazz, and ballet, she studied several styles over the years, found Belly Dance through Shimmy Mob 7 years ago, and has loved it ever since.

Presenting another of our fabulous dancers, Idris!
Idris came to bellydance many years back as a way to improve her balance and to improve her self confidence. When she started performing it also became a way to challenge her anxiety demons.
Idris tries to stay traditional, but her love of obscure music often leads her off the garden path into strange, sometimes scary but beautiful new places.

The first of our performers for our small Covid regulation Hafla!
September 18, 2021 at Subramanya Yoga centre. It looks like vaccine passports are in effect! Masks will be required for attendance.

Safta (in Urdu, translates to 'together') is of Romanian and Irish descent. As a little girl she joined and performed with a Polish Dance Group in Ottawa. Safta took Bellydance for its many benefits and for fun!

Join us in support of Leeds & Grenville Interval House.
We will be hosting a shorter, scaled down version of our hafla due to Covid restrictions. Limited seating. 2m distancing, masks, hand sanitizer etc. will be in place. No food will be served unlike our usual traditions. Donations gladly accepted.
