Our Memberships

May Court Club of Brockville

Who do we support? Where does our money go?

The May Court Club of Brockville is a registered charitable organization. It consists of a diverse and dedicated group of women who actively volunteer their time by providing both service and financial assistance to those in need. The May Court Club of Brockville has grown to more than 140 members, achieved a significant number of service undertakings, and has contributed more than $1,300,000 to our community.

Funds are raised principally through the May Court Thrift Shop as well as various fundraising events held throughout the year. What is not widely known is where the funds raised are used to help our community. This page is dedicated to making that known.

Bursaries

We provide bursaries to female high school students going on to post-secondary studies and who are in need of financial assistance for tuition, living expenses, books and other costs.

Loaves & Fishes

We help support Loaves & Fishes with monthly cash contributions to pay for milk and milk products and other necessities.

The Brockville Food Bank

We help support the Brockville Food Bank by paying for food/meal packages for children in need - some of whom are literally starving outside of school hours.

YMCA-YWCA Programs

We pay for and provide assistance for a number of Brockville YMCA-YWCA programs, including the Summer Camp Program, After-School Programs, Kid’s Club, and pay for pool time for The Special Olympics events, and more.

School Nutrition Programs

We fund school nutrition programs in 15 schools in greater Leeds and Grenville area, for children in need, that otherwise may not eat anything during the school day.

Individual Requests for Healthcare Equipment

Some healthcare needs, such as for equipment etc., whose costs are outside of OHIP coverage, are out of reach from some. We will purchase or rent such equipment for those in need, so they can have the same basic level of care that the rest of us enjoy. Referrals for this service must come through another Agency, rather than through private request.

The Brockville Community Hub Project

Run by the Brockville Police Service, the Brockville Community Hub Project makes it easier for local residents to access the health, social, cultural, recreational and other resources they need together in one spot. In Brockville, it’s located in a community-housing neighbourhood at 10-280 Bartholomew Street in a town-home unit. The May Court Club helps fund this project.

Making Play Possible

We donate to Making Play Possible Brockville, an organization dedicated to giving all children and youth in Leeds-Grenville the chance to participate in the recreation activities - regardless of the barriers they may face.

Brockville Music Festival

We donate to the Brockville Music Festival, an organization that has presented the Music Festival for over 60 years. The festival gives local music students the opportunity to perform in an adjudicated and competitive setting.

Girls Inc.

Our local Girls Inc. is a provider of programs and services specifically for girls between the ages of 6-18. These programs encourage each girl to develop positive attributes, stand up for their beliefs and represent their community as respected citizens. Working with Girls Inc., we are proud to inspire all girls to be strong, smart and bold by providing them the opportunity to develop and achieve their full potential.

The 30-Hour Palliative Care Telethon

We donate to the Annual 30-Hour Palliative Care Telethon a fundraising event raising money for the Palliative Care facility at the Brockville General Hospital. The facility is dedicated to expert and compassionate palliative care of those in the facility, and to providing support to the families of those in their care.

Other Community Enrichment Projects

We help fund community enrichment projects through donations as they arise. Examples of this are our support of the recent Brockville General Hospital expansion project, and other community projects that require funding assistance from the public or businesses to succeed.
